One of the country’s largest celebrations of music, this six-day festival brings the magic of the famed public TV series Austin City Limits out of the studio and into Austin’s most beloved park, with more than 140 musical acts on eight stages over two weekends.

Artists who have played at the festival include Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses, Muse, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Austin native Gary Clark Jr., and many more.

Scottish Gathering and Highland Games

The weekend begins on Friday evening with the Calling of the Clans at 6:00 pm on the Salado Creekside just north of the Museum building. This is a solemn torchlight ceremony that recreates the coming together of the ancient Scottish clans to fight with Robert the Bruce for Scotland’s freedom in 1314 at Bannockburn.

Following the Calling, a Welcome Social and Buffet Supper will be held in the Lucile A. Robertson Center at the Museum.

Each October, the Liberty Hill community gathers at the Sculpture Park to celebrate the history In 1976, where 25 sculptors from six different countries gathered in Liberty Hill as part of the International Sculpture Symposium.
Live sculpting demos in a variety of mediums, including stone, wood, metal, glass, sand and ice, while participating in hands-on art activities hosted by local businesses. Also, shop from vendors, listen to live music, and end the night with the Street Dance & Silent Disco!

Inner Space Cavern

Hidden for over 10,000 years, Inner Space Cavern is one of the best-preserved caves in Texas. It was discovered by a Texas Highway Department core drilling team in the spring of 1963 and was opened to the public in the summer of 1966. Since that time, hundreds of thousands of visitors have seen this beautiful cave.

The amazing cave has beautiful formations, large rooms, prehistoric animal bones, and a truly unique discovery story. It remains a constant 72 degrees (but feels like 80 degrees with the humidity) year round and it does NOT flood during rains.
